After some strong teamwork throughout the day and a textbook lead-out by Team dsm-firmenich PostNL, Charlotte Kool sprinted to second place at Classic Brugge-De Panne.
Our Women’s program returned to One-day racing today at Classic Brugge-De Panne, where the team took an impressive win last year. Without the danger of any crosswind, Team dsm-firmenich PostNL took responsibility in the peloton, kept any attacks close, and made sure the race would be decided in a bunch sprint. When a lone attacker went clear in the final 20 kilometers, they stayed cool, brought her back perfectly timed to set up the sprint. Coming into the final two kilometers, Franziska Koch brought the sprint train back into the front position, before Rachele Barbieri took over to launch the final sprint for Charlotte Kool. The Dutch sprinter launched her sprint at the perfect moment but just missed a little bit to bring home her first win of the year after the great work of the whole team throughout the day.
