After yesterday’s hilly stage, today was one for the sprinters again at the Alpes Isère Tour. A group of four got clear early in the race with all the Development Team dsm-firmenich PostNL riders in the peloton. The chasing peloton had to work hard to bring back the breakaway and only caught them in the final five kilometres. Going into the sprint, Frank Ragilo got blocked several times and could launch his sprint for a result. So it was Robbe Dhondt leading home the team safely in the bunch.
After the stage, Robbe Dhondt expressed: “As on the opening stage, we didn’t show our best performance today and have quite some improvement points going into tomorrow’s stage. We lost each other several times throughout the day, especially in the lead-out, which cost us a better result. Frank and I tried our best in the sprint, but he got blocked twice so he couldn’t sprint for a result. We are now taking those learning points with us into the next two stages and give our best to be in the mix again.”
