The day started cool and rainy as the team of Charlotte Kool, Franziska Koch, Megan Jastrab and Maeve Plouffe lined up for the 23rd Classic Lorient Agglomération – Trophée CERATIZIT. There was quiet in the peloton for the first 100km with 1 rider solo who was later joined by 2 others. With 50km to go, Franziska Koch and 6 others took the race into their own hands, briefly starting another break that was quickly reeled in. From there, Koch monitored the front of the peloton, and with Megan Jastrab, guided Kool in the final 10km. Unfortunately, Kool suffered a mechanical in the sprint finish, she rolled across the line 15th and we hope everyone involved in the crash is ok! The rest of the team crossed the line safely except for Maeve Plouffe who DNF’d.
Here’s what Coach Pim Ligthart had to say about the race: “With 4 girls on the start line we wanted to have an easy race. We made a plan to sprint with Charlotte in the final. As a team we did a nice race and Charlotte wanted to sprint but had an issue with her chain after someone touched wheels from behind. In the end, the girls rode a good race with the 4 of them. I’m a happy coach.”
We look ahead to 88th Bretagne Classic – Ouest-France tomorrow!
