After two podiums on the first two days of the Tour of Türkiye, Team dsm-firmenich PostNL was looking forward to another opportunity at today’s third stage. Despite some attacks during the finale of the hilly day, it came down to another bunch sprint. The guys lost each other a bit in the twisty and hectic run-in towards the finish and Fabio couldn’t get a clear sprint, finishing 11th on the day.
Speaking after the stage Jakobsen said: “I am happy that I made it over the last climb, but then made a few wrong choices in the final. I wasn’t able to follow my teammates when it got a bit hectic and dangerous in the last three kilometres. We found each other well in the first place, but then I lost them, unfortunately. But we are moving in the right direction and need to fine-tune a few things in deep finals. We are now looking forward already to our next opportunities this week.”
