Development Team dsm-firmenich PostNL lined up for the one-day Wim Hendriks Trofee race in the Netherlands today, part of the U23 Road Series, racing in collaboration with Dutch Food Valley Cycling Team. Three riders were in the action for the team today, with Axel Källberg, Benjamin Peatfield and Frank Aron Ragilo taking to the start. After a hard attacking race in which Peatfield especially raced well and from the front when it mattered to make the front splits, he ended up finishing in sixth place. Having got clear in a strong move late in the race he found himself alone chasing two leaders before being caught ahead of the finish.
After the stage Team dsm-firmenich PostNL coach Joey Van Rhee said: “It was quite a hectic race with crashes in the beginning and a lot of wind and echelons in bad weather. Overall Ben rode a super good race, he was very sharp in all the groups and making every split. The guys behind were not quite as sharp as they were finding themselves in the second group in the splits. In the end he ran out of energy but he rode a great race today. The guys behind have some work to do on positioning in the important places but overall it was quite a good race with four riders from our collaborative team in the top 20.”
