The seventh and final stage of the Tour de Pologne saw Casper van Uden sprint to fourth place after a strong lead-out from his teammates in the final kilometres, rounding out the race in which Oscar Onley finished 10th overall on GC. The stage profile always looked like one that would suit a bunch finish but a gutsy breakaway of four riders put up a good fight to try and stay away, eventually being caught in the final three kilometres on the last lap of the closing circuit.
It was on this circuit where Team dsm-firmenich PostNL set about hitting the front to bring van Uden into position for a fast finish, dropping him off in the final few hundred metres from which point he unleashed his powerful finish to take fourth place.
After the race, van Uden said: “All the boys did a good job today keeping both me and Oscar safe for what was another sprint day. In the final we did a solid lead-out and I gave it everything to take fourth.”
