In the final stage of the UAE Tour Women, Team dsm-firmenich PostNL looked to take another good result with sprinter Rachele Barbieri in the expected bunch sprint on the pancake flat terrain around Abu Dhabi. However, a strong break managed to get a significant advantage after which lone leader Amber Kraak just stayed away, as Barbieri managed to take a good 6th place in the sprint behind.
After the hectic sprint finale, Barbieri commented: “Today was a fast day out on the bike. Although I could have got more out of this last sprint, I am happy about my overall performance here at UAE Tour. I’m also really thankful for the girls, who worked really hard for me during these sprint stages. In general, we can be satisfied with two nice results, great teamwork and a lot of new experiences for the team. The team already showed some great lead-outs, which is a really promising start to the next races when Charlotte is back in business!”
