The Simac Ladies Tour got underway on Tuesday afternoon with a short and fast ten kilometre route around the streets of Gennep. With a few tight turns mixed in with longer power sections, the course set up a battle between the specialists against the clock. Team dsm-firmenich PostNL set off one-by-one down the ramp with everyone giving their all around the course. Charlotte Kool set a respectable time amongst the other sprinters of 13 minutes and 22 seconds, while Franziska Koch delivered the best effort of the day for the squad, completing the route in 13 minutes and 11 seconds; ending the day in ninth place for the team.
Koch expressed: “It was a fast start into the Simac Ladies Tour today. The route was pretty flat but with quite some speed bumps throughout the course, so it was important to get some good coaching through the radio from the car. I could dig really deep and I’m happy to finish with a nice top ten.”
