Climbing continued today at the Tour de Suisse, as the peloton tackled another mountain-top finish. The stage began with two challenging climbs that were raced aggressively, causing the peloton to split into multiple groups. Oscar Onley managed to stay with the leading group, while the rest of Team dsm-firmenich PostNL fought hard to rejoin the front during the flatter sections.
Approaching the final climb, the team brought Oscar into an excellent position. He maintained this position until five kilometers from the finish. After a further increase in pace, he had to let the leading riders go but maintained a strong rhythm to finish in sixth place once again.
Onley expressed: “The boys fought hard today to get back and support me after a hard first hour of racing. I was put in a good position and from there it was just down to the legs. I gave it everything and looking for more opportunities in the coming days.”
