The opening stage of Tour de Normandie Féminin featured a 10.3km individual time-trial to what is thought to set the GC up for the remaining 3 days. As the team made its debut at this race, it made for open objectives and opportunities to take. Daniek Hengeveld was the second rider on our roster to leave the start ramp and was sat comfortably in 3rd after the first half of the field had finished. As more of the favourites finished, Hengeveld’s 3rd became a 5th place finish. She now sits 5th on GC.
Coach, Albert Timmer, had this to say: “The girls did good. With some we have some small improvement points for some of the riders. With Nienke and Daniek we made a nice result in the end. So looks promising for the coming days. We are ready for some nice racing.”
