A race of attrition over the hills at Trofeo Alfredo Binda on Sunday afternoon saw the Team dsm-firmenich PostNL squad work well together as a unit, looking to keep finishers Juliette Labous and Pfeiffer Georgi safe for the finale. Doing just that, the team kept tabs on any dangerous attacks before Labous and Georgi made it into the decisive reduced peloton. Trying their hand to get free on the last lap, things ultimately came back together for a group sprint to the line, where Georgi showed her speed to take a solid fifth place on the day.
Georgi said: “The team did a really great job of putting me and Juliette in a position to race and we made it into the select group on the last lap. From there, Juliette focused on attacking and I more on the sprint, which I messed up slightly getting a bit boxed, but nevertheless am satisfied with fifth place. I was happy to have the good feeling back after some bad luck recently so this gives me confidence for the rest of the spring.”
