Frank van den Broek wins Tour of Türkiye queen stage with Team dsm-firmenich PostNL

Tour of Türkiye

Speaking after the stage Van den Broek said: “This win is very special for me. We already had three wins and to make it four now is amazing. I didn’t expect to win today, but the team showed a lot of trust in me and did a lot of work throughout the day. Seeing that gave me a lot of confidence and I am really happy to finish it off with a win today! After I came through the steep parts of the climb in a good way, I knew that I would have a chance since I have a solid sprint compared to other climbers. We have two more chances for a sprint now and I am looking forward to supporting my teammates and also trying to defend the lead in the GC now.”

Team dsm-firmenich PostNL coach Roy Curvers added: “We came to Tour of Türkiye with a clear focus on sprints and had Frank with us to see how far he could go on a day like this. We made a plan in the morning to bring him into the final climb as fresh as possible. The plan was then to just hang on while on the really steep parts and that he could use his sprint on the flat final. It’s amazing to see this young Dutch guy now climbing up the stairs of cycling so to speak, and also surprising himself by being able to follow everybody here. Grabbing another win this week is fantastic and when everything falls together in a stage where you didn’t really expect it, or have any pressure, then it almost feels like a dream.”
