Team dsm-firmenich PostNL were back in action on home roads on Wednesday evening as the ZLM Tour got underway with a 14 kilometre long time trial around Westkapelle. With very little elevation throughout the course, as expected in the Dutch province of Zeeland, it would be the technical nature of the route combined with the long power sections that would create the differences. Everyone in the squad set out to do their best effort against the clock, with Pat Eddy making an early trip to the hot-seat with a time of 17 minutes and 54 seconds before ultimately finishing in tenth place with the team.
Eddy expressed: “It was a technical and fast TT today. I usually prefer the shorter time trials but still gave it my best shot. I probably lost some time in a few of the corners and maybe could’ve paced it a bit better, but I’m happy with my effort and am looking forward to the rest of the week with the boys!”
